Business loans for restaurants, cafes and hotels
Restaurants, cafes and small hotels usually borrow for new outlets, kitchen equipment and off-season running costs, through term loans, equipment loans and working capital. A Mudra loan can cover a food or hospitality business up to ₹20,00,000. It suits a business with steady sales and a clear plan.

Capnix is not a lender and never lends its own capital. The lender decides every approval, amount, rate and charge. We take your file to lenders that fund hospitality, but only after you give consent, and run the loan through to disbursal. Getting your loan through us costs you nothing: no joining fee, no file charge, no cut of your loan.

Scheme routes
Three routes can help a small food or hospitality business. Check current terms with the lender.
| Route | What applies | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Mudra | Covers food and hospitality as a service activity, up to ₹20,00,000. Mudra refinances lenders and does not lend directly. | Mudra FAQ Checked 02-Oct-2026 |
| MCGS-MSME | 60% guarantee on equipment and machinery loans, including service enterprises from 21-Mar-2026. |
PIB release on MCGS-MSME, 21-Mar-2026 Checked 02-Oct-2026 |

Borrowing on card and UPI sales
If most of your sales are by card or UPI, some lenders assess a loan on those settlements. Digital loans carry extra rights: a Key Facts Statement with the annual percentage rate, and a cooling-off exit of at least one day with no penalty.

Collateral-free routes
For loans sanctioned or renewed from 01-Apr-2026, banks may not ask micro and small enterprises for collateral on loans up to ₹20,00,000. Lenders still read your sales, banking and credit history.

Worked example: a ₹12,00,000 kitchen refit over 36 or 48 months
A restaurant finances ₹12,00,000 for a kitchen refit at 10.5% a year, the top of the range one public sector bank publishes for micro enterprise loans up to ₹25,00,000. It is an example, not an offer. Check the instalment against your quietest month's sales.
| Item | 36 months | 48 months |
|---|---|---|
| Loan amount | ₹12,00,000 | ₹12,00,000 |
| Monthly instalment | ₹39,003 | ₹30,724 |
| Total interest | ₹2,04,106 | ₹2,74,755 |
| Total repaid | ₹14,04,106 | ₹14,74,755 |
The formula is P x r x (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n minus 1), with r as the monthly rate and n as the months. Fees are left out.

Who it suits and who it does not
A strong fit if
- You run a restaurant, cafe, cloud kitchen, bakery or small hotel
- You plan a new outlet, a refit or new kitchen equipment
- Most of your sales are on UPI and cards
Not a fit if
- Your sales are too uneven to carry a fixed instalment in the off season
- You want to buy the building (see loan against property)
Documents lenders usually ask for
One bank's own guide lists the records below. A lender adds papers for the project, such as quotations for the refit.
- Bank statements for the last 6 to 12 months, showing card and UPI collections
- Six to twelve months of GST returns
- Income tax returns, 1 to 3 years
- Business proof, such as a shop and establishment licence or a GST certificate
- A quotation for the refit or equipment
- KYC papers for the business and its promoters
