SME and MSME business loans: how to apply with Udyam

An MSME loan is any business loan to a micro, small or medium enterprise, usually identified by its Udyam registration. Banks classify the business from its Udyam certificate, and for micro and small enterprises they may not take collateral on loans up to ₹20,00,000 sanctioned or renewed from 01-Apr-2026. It suits a business that has registered on Udyam and wants its first formal loan.

A micro enterprise borrows ₹5,00,000 at 10.5% a year, the top of the range one public sector bank publishes for micro enterprise loans up to ₹25,00,000. It is an example, not an offer. Your rate is set by the lender.

Who it suits and who it does not

A strong fit if

  • Your business is registered on Udyam
  • You want options built around small business needs
  • You want the right lender, not just any loan
Talk to our team

Not a fit if

  • You have not registered and do not plan to (many lenders ask for the certificate)
  • You are looking for a loan from an agent who asks for a fee upfront

Documents lenders usually ask for

For a proprietorship, RBI's KYC rules ask for any two documents that prove the business, such as the list below. A lender may accept one at its discretion after checking the contact point.

  • Two of: Udyam or other government registration, shop and establishment licence, GST certificate, income tax return in the proprietor's name, utility bills in the business's name
  • Your bank statements for the past 6 to 12 months
  • Six to twelve months of GST returns
  • Income tax returns for 1 to 3 years
  • KYC of the business and its promoters

How Capnix fits

  • Start with your free Capnix score. It reads GST filing, banking and credit history, the signals an MSME lender reads beside your Udyam certificate.
  • Your file reaches a lender or a Lender Partner only once you give consent, and you can withdraw that consent in your Capnix account.
  • We charge your business nothing. The lender pays Capnix a fee after disbursal, and it is never added to your loan.
